What Lies Within

What Lies Within

Fabric Poussin

The sweet fragility of the sparrow is like a soul
fluttering about the branches of a spring yet to come
its little heart beating at the speed of impatience
seeking a safe place to avoid the predatory giant.

She finds solace behind the burgeons to the approach
of a future she was almost resigned to forget
but there is an enchanting perfume below the surface
seeping with the amber nectar nearing a final explosion.

A timid song emerges from the minute chest
and its fire resumes with the electricity of the infinite
the source found at the very end of the universe
she swallows a gasp in unison with the rebirth of the world.

A hand reaches between the fibers, tickling the intimacy
of the unsuspecting bundle of so many little dreams
now will begin the long flight to a great many dawns
flowing upon a never-ending melody born within.
